I have datawindow which retrieves company list based on the user input of
characters e.g. "A.%", it will retrieve list of companies start with A.
ent/"

In this list I have made a computed field which should triggers company
detail on another page(different data window) on another page. so when i
click this company it says "no company exist". This is the path its looking
for.
ent/f_prof1_search?2070741"

one thing I noticed if I remove f_search_business_ent out from this path it
works fine and I can see the valid data.

If you could please tell me why it looks in f_search_business_ent , I will
appreciate it.

I tried to follow this by followinf example in section 4.3 of your book
(drill-down-features)

Thanks

Your URL is malformed for Web.PB
"http://localhost/SCRIPTS/pbcgi60.exe/TUTORIAL/uo_pbdemo/f_search_business_
ent/f_prof1_search?2070741"

Web.PB will connect to the DPB server specified in the TUTORIAL section of
pbweb.ini, then instantiate uo_pbdemo and call the f_search_business_ent
function. If you want it to call f_prof1_search, then you need to remove the
other function from the URL.

Thanks again for your suggestion. I tried as you described above, but it did
not work, so if know any other way of solving my situation then please let me
know.

thanks for your quick response, but I am sorry I don't understand how you
can remove a function from the URL during runtime. Let me explain my
problem again

1st. I open a search page where user can search for company. The
address for this page is http://localhost/test.htm

2nd : I hit submit button, so it gave me list of selected companies., the
address for this page is
"http://localhost/SCRIPTS/pbcgi60.exe/TUTORIAL/uo_pbdemo/f_search_business_
ent/"

I have designed the above page so the user can click on the company and can
go to another page. I am using computed field for this, the syntax for the
computed field is "'' + "Goto
Profile"+ '
'". Now once I click to this link, its should go to my
profile function or page, but instead of profile function its going to the
following address

ent/f_prof1_search?2060939"

I guess all I need is that, after clicking "GOTO PROFILE", I should go to
the next page with the following URL and that will work for me.
0939"

Let me know if some one can solve this problem.

OK, now I understand but I'm not sure what is going on. You are using a
relative URL as outlined in the book. However, the browser is not completing
it correctly. Hmmm, why not? Here's what you said computed field contained:

'' + "Goto Profile"+ ''"

This looks good. I must say I really don't know why this won't work. Are you
doing anything else in the HTML that might mess up the URL, like declaring a
base URL? Which browser and version are you using? Have you tried a different
browser?

I can suggest something else to try but don't get your hopes up. In your
function f_prof1_search, you've got an argument defined for the entity_id. Say
it's called as_entity. Try coding the computed field like this:

'' + "Goto Profile"+
'
'"

My thinking here is that possibly entity_id contains some characters that the
browser doesn't like.
