How can one comment out many lines of code?

I tried using POD like so:

=begin

code....

=end

That works for the Perl interpreter, but pod2html does not like it.
Do you know a way to please both POD and the Perl interpreter?

Thanks,

Marcus

The =begin isn't used by itself .. you can (have to actually) specify
a formatter that you want the section to be interpreted by:

=begin html

stuff

=end

If the tool being used, say pod2html does not recognize the
formatter, it will (should) ignore that pod chunk, thus to
really comment out a section you can use:

=begin comment

blah blah

=cut

Personally, I don't like using POD for commenting things out -- I
simply comment out using # ... and I have my editor set up so that
I can quickly select a range of lines and hit control-F3 to comment
them out (and control-F4 to uncomment them again).

Yes, I agree. I've thought of creating something like that for
my editor...maybe I will now.
