I would like to thank you for the book I really learnded Ant reading your
book. Now I use it as reference book, but sometimes it doesn't help so much
because the index pages. Every time I want to find something, I don't find any
reference on the index pages. Finally I have to parse the hole book in order
to find something I have read, which is a tedious work.

I think that if you want you book be a good reference for Ant the index pages
should really improved for next editions.

I give you some examples:
- There is no reference about item <description>, you have to go the P and the
to see on the <project> item.
- the item <classpath> only appears at pages 51 by the index on the whole
book!!!!

There are more examples, but I don't remember write know, the above two
examples where from today.

Thanks,

David

David,

Your points are well taken. It is a very tough job indexing a book, a chore
most publishers take upon
themselves, but Manning has the authors do it. We did it at the end of the
book production cycle as
the last step, and by then we are so sick of the book writing process that we
surely did not do as good
a job as possible. Manning even told us that an index is one thing that is
never "done" - it could
always be better.

My recommendation to help find things in the book is to get it in PDF format
and use its searching
facilities. If you contact me by e-mail privately, I'd even be happy to send
you a copy of the PDF file
for your own personal use.

Erik,

To find your private address is more dificult than to find some entry on the
index of your book, smilie

I have found a address of the company: info@ehatchersolutions.com, that your
are probably involve, but I didn't get any reply from you, that is way I am
replying this message.

I think it is better that you contact with me, please send me a pdf copy to
the address: achepati67@yahoo.es.

Thanks for your offer about sending to me the pdf file.

Thanks in advance,

David
