Hi,
We are trying to automate our build process with Ant. We were using WSAD with
a manual build process. I first tried to automate the complete process with
ant 1.5 but had problems with the ejbjar task with the websphere nested
element, but has some issues . Then I moved on to the custom ibm tasks like
ejbDeploy. It works great in WSAD. But when I try to do it command line I did
not have much success. We are using WSAD 5.0 and are using j2ee 1.3 , ejb 2.0.
Question:
1) Ideally I would like to ant purely so that I am not dependent on WSAD to do
the build. Is there any documentation on how to do this specifically the jars
required for the <websphere> element ideally if there is a some example for
the ejbjar task. I tried the ejbjar task from ant site and did not work well.

2) If there are examples of how to run the custom tasks created by ibm outside
WSAD that would be great.

Thanks
AShwin

Re: Building EJB Jar for Websphere with skeleton and stub code
[Originally posted by ashwinpj]

The approach that we took was compile all our projects using the standard ant
tasks. Build a ejb jar without the skeletons and stubs and finally a ear file
with the ejb jar and all the configuration files required for the applicaiton.

Then we used the websphere console to deploy the ear file and it works fine.
But this step is still manual. We will eventually automate this step using the
tasks provided by Websphere.

Thanks
Ashwin

I'm happy to see you've got a working resolution to your situation. WSAD and
WebSphere make
building and deployment dramatically more complicated than other environments,
but that being
said they are very powerful.

Re: Building EJB Jar for Websphere with skeleton and stub code
Ashwin,
Me too in such a situation (need to compile the ejb, without stub/skels) and finally to create an EAR.
Could you please post the snippet of that code(your approact), will help us in a big way.
Thanks,

Re: Building EJB Jar for Websphere with skeleton and stub code
I have the same situation to handle. I need to making the ejb jars manuallly using ejbjar ant task to be deployed on WSAD. Can you please send me the code snippet for ejbjar task in the ant file. I am also using ejb 2.0.

thanks
