Good morning Anthony
I have both your books now on LotusScript & Java great stuff!
I'm having a problem getting started with the Java.
I import the jar files notes, NCSO, and xml4j
I keep getting the error messages when importing Class files are in use by the
system for a variety of classes, hence when I type in a very simple program I
get alot of errors like:
Standard Syntax Model lmpl is Missing.
Can you help me?
Please IBM has terrible support and I can't seem to find anything on support
forums.

The Class that is giving the problems is org.omg.corba

Well Tried the reinstall of VAJ 3.5.3 without the (SCM) Interface to external
Version Control Systems.
Still same problem: When trying to import the Domino Jar files i get:
Error occurred reading org.omg.corba cannot change any org.omg.corba because
it is required by the System.
Can you help me?

I'm importing ncso.jar, notes.jar, xml4.jar, ncsoc.jar, ncsocw.jar.
I have tried various combinations of these.
the problem starts from the first notes.jar file and continues for all and any
the problem is with notesfactory~org.omg.corba
it can't read as this is required by the system

I'm using windows 2000, have tried differn't versions of notes 5.02c to 5.07a,
VAJ 3.5.3,

I've even tried reinstalling win2000 etc..

Can you help me big guy?

I've imported with no problems, don't import ncsoc.jar or ncsocw.jar. You
should only need ncso.jar and notes.jar.

Hello Anthony
I hope you don't mind me emailling you but I'm running out of ideas.

I have the book Domino 5 web programming and have consulted with
Anthiny Patton of Java programming for domino

This problem seems to be strange to who ever I consult with:

I create a project "Lotus Domino Java Library"
I then import the Lotus Notes Jar files: Notes.jar, NCSO.jar and XMLJ4.jar

the responce is that org.omg.corba is requires by the System cannot read or
change it.
and hence alot of errors.
and the following program won't work.

I create a project called "Domino examples"

I create a package called "test
I create a class called "NotesVersion"

I add a main method and add the following code:

public static void main(String args[]){
try{
// Initialize Notes on the current thread
NotesThread.sinitThread();
// (your code goes here)
// Create a session
Session s = NotesFactory.createSession();
System.out.println(s.getNotesVersion()); //print version
}
catch (NotesException e) {
// A Notes specific exception occurred
System.err.println(e.id + " " e.text);
e.printStackTrace(System.err);
}
catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace(System.err); //Generic error, print trace
}
finally {
// Always shut down the Notes thread
NotesThread.stermThread();
}
}

// Note on the line which has C next to NotesVersion class Name I add
import lotus.domino.*;
//in the source code window.

Well there you have it! it does not work? Please explain whats wrong?

An error occurred reading D:IBMVisualAge for
Java3.5.3ide empimportorgomgCORBAObject.class: Cannot change
<Pkg>org.omg.CORBA::Object because it is required by the system..
An error occurred reading D:IBMVisualAge for
Java3.5.3ide empimportorgomgCORBAUserException.class: Cannot change
<Pkg>org.omg.CORBA::UserException because it is required by the system..

I reinstalled my operating system win2000, tried it on win2000 server,
win98, I spoke with people on the web,
Anthony Patton of the Domino Development with Java
And tried to use various other books examples, all of which gave the same
results.

Can you help me oh guru?
