As I was working through Chapter 2, when I visited the URL for my new Wordpress VM, it said that I didn't have the MySQL extension that Wordpress needed. I ended up having to go into the php.ini file and uncommenting out the "mysqli" extension. I happened to be familiar with this and knew what to do, but I just wanted to mention it in case the author wanted to add this to the book to help Wordpress newbies.

Great book so far! The Datastore chapter blew my mind. Here I thought it was just Google's DynamoDB.

I resolved this by running
sudo service apache2 restart
after the steps in listing 2.10
