It will probably involve use of the Java drag-and-drop and data transfer
packages. Take a look at the DnD example in the book for a general idea of
how the Java DnD classes work.

you can use a background ratter simply:

Background bg = new Background(ImageComponent2D yourImage);
bg.setApplicationBounds(BoundingSphere());
yourContentRoot.addChild(bg);

That is it!
