In this section it says "The CLI takes care of wiring up the build tooling, which is based on webpack." I remember reading online that Angular no longer uses Webpack for this, that they have their own JS compiler as part of the build process. If I look at the source code generated by "ng new" it has no "webpack.config.js" file. Just pointing this out in case it is out of date.

It uses Webpack internally, and hides the webpack config files from you. You can 'eject' the config file if you need to do some manual configuration but at that point you're unable to use the CLI any longer.
