I am trying to have the same layout template as it is shown in the book:

doctype html
html
    head
        meta(name='viewport', content='width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0')
        title= title
        link(rel='stylesheet', href='/stylesheets/bootstrap.min.css')
        link(rel='stylesheet', href='/stylesheets/font-awesome.min.css')
        link(rel='stylesheet', href='/stylesheets/style.css')
    body
        nav.navbar.fixed-top.navbar-toggleable-md.navbar-inverse
            .container
                button.navbar-toggler.navbar-toggler-right(type='button', data-toggle='collapse', data-target='#navbarMain')
                    span.navbar-toggler-icon
                a.navbar-brand(href='/ ') Loc8r
                #navbarMain.navbar-collapse.collapse
                    ul.navbar-nav.mr-auto
                        li.nav-item
                            a.nav-link(href='/about/') About
        .container
            block content
            footer
                .row
                    .col-12

    script(src='/javascripts/bootstrap.min.js')[/quote]

but it renders completely differently; there is no "about" and loc8r is on the right;
I tried different indentations and it never worked;
I am considering switching to another view engine but I wanted to follow the book esp. with Angular coming..

Am I missing some express set up or what is wrong please?

I'm having a very similar issue,

My github repo with the examples is here

I downloaded git sample and it worked; it looked like I downloaded the wrong bootstrap which was the reason of my problems;
I copied the one from book's sample to my project and it worked; I closed the issue then;

I found the same thing but the book seems to be using the alpha version of bootstrap 4 and I'd love to see it updated to a release version before the book is printed.

Hi all

Thanks for highlighting this. Bootstrap 4 was only in alpha when I started the book. I'll update the book to use the live version before it is finally released.

Looks like there will be a few things to sort out when I do!

Cheers
Simon
