Can someone give me an idea of how relevant this book would be for writing serverless apps using AWS lambdas written in Java?

I've seen other books on Lambdas that get bogged down in JS and its tooling, and that approach would be a poor use of my time.

Well, I've asked myself same question as Java developer (and I'm not noobie in javascript/nodejs)
The answer is quite simple:

  • if you stuck reading/writing javascript and/or have no time to dive into language/tooling -- avoid read this book.

  • But if you have base knowlege of javascript, you might have fun reading book's examples.

  • IMO, javascript is good for learning as you can edit code just on aws webpage. But js have no inline docs about api. And vice versa, Java lambda require compile/build and upload lamda as jar-file, but it is easy to discover api through javadoc.
