How can I get a separate browsable JTree by selecting one of the menu bar
items ? So far in the examples I have seen JDialog getting triggered from the
menu.
Thank you for your help.

Put a JTree in your own dialog. There are no convenience classes for
doing this (such as JOptionPane). You'll have to put a JTree in your
own dialog and control it yourself.
