Some Java code lacks use of generics, which nowadays is nonsense.

The error about instancing List (first post on the forum) remains in the secon version.

Re: Please use generics
Hello,

The corrections noted in this forum from the first release were not published in the second release. When we do publish the fixes, we will share that in the release announcement.

With regard to the use (or not) of generics in examples ... that is still an open question for me. Whilst the book uses Java and Scala, it is not a Java nor Scala book. We also have readers coming from languages such as Ruby and Python where there are no generics.

Re: Please use generics
Yes, but nowadays Java w/o generics feels strange (and, btw you use them in other parts of the book).

Besides, you'll have to explain all the strange casts you have to do when extracting elements from the list to people coming from Ruby or Python (because they won't understand them either).
