I think that a book on Java 8 with the main topic being the Stream API should cover in detail how to create custom streams. This is going to be a vital resource for library developers, not only for those that write collection API's but those wishing to write streaming support to their libraries.

Consider a library that deserializes from an input source like JAXB or Jackson, these could be consumed more efficiently by use of a custom Spliterator/Supplier which instead of parsing the whole input source and returning a collection, could produce a stream of unknown length supplying the deserialized data.

Likewise a message-queue could be written utilizing the stream API, there are many possibilities.

If you put the chapter together, we will have a lot of interesting library enhancements in the future from our library vendors.
