The fileAge property is described like this on page 76 in the "3.2 Using the file transport" chapter in MEAP v13:

"An alternative to removing the file to prohibit this behavior is to set the "fileAge" property on the file connector . This will cause a file inbound endpoint to only read files that are newer then then the supplied age interval."

I believe the actual behavior is the opposite. The inbound endpoint will not process the file unless it is *older* than fileAge.

The current file transport documentation says this about fileAge:
"setting this value (minimum age in milliseconds for a file to be processed) is useful when consuming large files, as Mule will wait before reading this file until the file last modification timestamp indicates that the file is older than this value"
