I like the "web design is a team sport" thought, nice.

"Just like how semantics took the place of table based design,.." - It's not semantics but floats and positioning that took the place of table based layouts.

One thing that might be useful to the reader is one of Luke's main tenants, content before UI. You mention the need to minimize the UI due to screen real estate but you might want to add that this has benefit of offering more room for content on screen. This would reinforce an earlier statement you make about content being the reason people come to a site.
