Hi,

I followed the steps in chapter 3 section 3.1.1 but am still unable to
get to the starting page of the modeler. When I go to the required URL,
a page with the error "The application could not be loaded. Please double
check your internet connection and reload the page." opens up although I
have an internet connection all the time. Although I don't understand why
it will need internet connection when everything is locally deployed.

Here is what I did(I am doing this on Windows 7 Enterprise x64),

- Downloaded activiti-5.9 from http://activiti.org/download.html
- Unzipped it in C:
- Setup ant & ran "ant h2.start" & "ant tomcat.start"
- Was able to connect to activiti-rest & activiti-explorer successfully from browser
- Downloaded activiti-modeler.war from book web site
- Copied it to C:activiti-5.9appsapache-tomcat-6.0.32webapps & restarted tomcat
- No console errors or deployment errors in tomcat logs while deploying activiti-modeler.war
- Went to http://localhost:8080/activiti-modeler from browser & go the error mentioned

- Also, downloaded the code & unzipped it in activiti-5.9
- Modified C:activiti-5.9signavio-core-componentsuild.properties (Contents below)
- Built activiti-modeler.war & copied it from target directory to C:activiti-5.9appsapache-tomcat-6.0.32webapps
- Restarted tomcat

No change in behavior.

Please let me know if anyone else is also seeing the same behavior & if so,
how did you resolve it.

Thanks,
Aejaz

---------------------------------build.properties---------------------------------
dir-tomcat-webapps = C:/activiti-5.9/apps/apache-tomcat-6.0.32/webapps
target = target
version=5.9
war = activiti-modeler
configuration = Activiti
host = http://localhost:8080
fileSystemRootDirectory = ../../../workspace/activiti-modeler-examples

#Tried with c:/activiti-5.9/workspace/activiti-modeler-examples as well, war gets #deployed without errors but no change in behavior

Re: Activiti Modeler not working
The error message you are referring to is a standard browser error message, right? It just says that there's nothing available at that URL.
Which Java version are you using?
Do you see an activiti-modeler folder being created in the webapps directory?

Best regards,

Tijs

Re: Activiti Modeler not working
Hi Tijs,

Thanks for your reply.

I am using java version 1.6.0_26 64 bit.
Also, the activity-modeler folder gets created successfully.

When I enter the URL localhost:8080/activiti-modeler in
the browser it redirects to http://localhost:8080/activiti-modeler/p/explorer
& the resulting page has a pop-up with the error message I mentioned
earlier.

Let me know if there is anything else to look at. Meanwhile I have
continued with the designer plugin & was able to do everything else
in chapter 3 without any issues.

Re: Activiti Modeler not working
Hi Aejaz.

Ah, could it be that you are using internet explorer as your browser? Only Firefox and Chrome are supported for the Activiti Modeler.

Best regards,

Tijs

2) Copied this war to activiti-5.10appsapache-tomcat-6.0.32/webapps
3) stopd the tomcat server
4) started tomcat
5) In chrome, opened http://localhost:8080/activiti-modeler/p/explorer

Re: Activiti Modeler not working
Hi Yatin,

Because now the Activiti Modeler is part of the Activiti project and the Activiti Explorer web application in specific again, the url you should use is different.
So just open http://localhost:8080/activiti-explorer and login with the kermit user. Then go to the process tab and the model workspace. There you can open the Modeler component. It's also explained in this blog post:

http://bpmn20inaction.blogspot.nl/2012/09/activiti-modeler-getting-started-part-1.html

Re: Activiti Modeler not working
But if you use the Activiti 5.10 Tomcat there will already be an activiti-explorer.war and exploded folder. Did you uninstall that one first? Do you see a model workspace menu item in the process tab?

Re: Activiti Modeler not working
Hi,

under webapps there was already activiti-explorer folder. So what I did was downloaded war file which is alpha release in sept 2012 and pasted it in webapps.

So you saying I need to delete dat one first and den start n stop tomcat, so that new war file get exploded?

Thanks,
