I've wasted many hours tracking down how to setup my pc at work so that the coding examples I find actually work. I hope you're explaining ("in Depth") what needs to be installed on a pc in order to get Active Directory commands to work (if you're not already on a server) or Exchange commands or WMI commands. They don't work "as is". There is setup that must be done in preparation.

Re: but does it explain the setup?
We assume the reader already has some PowerShell experience. While we use the AD module as an example, we assume the reader already knows a bit on how to load it. But you can use this forum for help in setting up some of these things if you need. For the AD module you need a Windows 2008 R2 Domain controller, or a domain controller running the free Active Directory Web Service Gateway which you can download from Microsoft. On the client side install Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 and configure to manage Active Directory.

Re: but does it explain the setup?
Also, keep in mind that we're targeting PowerShell v3 in its "final state;" all you've got right now is v2 or the v3 CTPs. One reason we aren't covering "setup" in the book yet is that we need to wait and see what that actually entails in the final shipping code.
