Chapter 27 did mention the use of PIL. I have been trying to install PIL on
ZOPE without much success (newbie status). Could you point me to some
information on how to install PIL on ZOPE or any other graphics extension to
allow me to publish charts or graphs to a browser.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Keith,

I have never used PIL with ZOPE myself. However, if you are on Windows, you
are not the first to have troubles with getting PIL installed there. Greg
Landrum just posted the following note on the Python newsgroup this weekend
with some nice instructions on how to get PIL working on Windows (which should
help):
http://www.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2000-March/049841.html

For specifics on using it with ZOPE for charts, you might want to check the
Chart program developed by Arpad Kiss (which uses PIL). See:
http://starship.python.net/crew/arpadk/

He writes that it is only at an alpha level, but might give you ideas. Also
he and/or the ZOPE mailing list (http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope)
would be good bets for further information on using PIL for this or on
pointers to other options that may be available.
