On page 209 of the latest MEAP printing there is a aside block that explains why interceptors are more than aspects. Interceptors may indeed be more than aspects, but all of the capabilities attributed to interceptors are possible with aspects. Around advice in aspects allow:

1) Redirect to another method
2) Change the arguments
3) Suppress the method call
4) Change the return value

If interceptors are indeed more than aspects, then I suggest you come up with some legitimate features to make your case.
