I'm going to give a talk on GPars to my local Groovy/Grails user group later this month. I was wondering if it would be okay to include in my slides some of the diagrams from Chapter 17 of ReGinA, giving the authors complete credit. The diagram comparing fork/join to map/filter/reduce does such a great job of illustrating the difference between the two approaches.

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Using diagrams in GPars talk (with credit)?
Hi Dierk,

Great! Thanks!

If anyone's interested, I could post a link to the slides here when I'm done. I'm sure they won't cover the material as well as Chapter 17 does, but they still might be helpful. For example, I have an idea for how to visually represent data flow concurrency that I'm planning to include.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

a link to the slides would be much appreciated, as well as a link to your user group such that we can advertise it on mailto:user@gpars.codehaus.org and maybe even on the website. (it's a wiki, so you can do it yourself smilie)

cheers
Dierk

Re: Using diagrams in GPars talk (with credit)?
Hi Dierk,

Great! I'll post a link here to the slides once they're ready.

I'll be presenting to the Boston Grails Users' Group (http://www.meetup.com/Grails-Boston/) on May 25. Here's a link to the meeting description - http://www.meetup.com/Grails-Boston/events/16276921/ I'd be happy to add a reference to it on the GPars presentations page. I'll do that later today.

Thanks,
Matt

For anyone who's interested, here's a link to a blog post describing the talk (with the slides directly embedded) - http://blog.grovehillsoftware.com/2011/05/gpars-for-beginners-presentation.html

Here's a direct link to the slides - http://bit.ly/gparsboston

Sadly, I forgot to start recording the audio, so it's just the slides.
