Hi from distant Switzerland...

I'm with a group of kids who worked their way through the book, and yes, I'm a complete beginner, too.
When we tried to run the ski game, we got the message "import error, no module called pygame".
(I used the CD in the book to install everything)

Have you got an idea what we're doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Cornelia

Re: Ski game
Hi Cornelia!

The error message looks like PyGame wasn't installed properly. This probably isn't your fault.

Are you using the German translation of our book? It's the only one we know of with a CD, but we weren't exactly involved with its creation. Chances are, the installer on the CD didn't install PyGame correctly.

Also, what operating system are you using? Depending on whether you are using windows, mac, or linux, the installer might work differently. Let us know so we can test the installer on the correct operating system.

Sincerely,
Carter.

Re: Ski game
Hi Carter

yes, you are right, I used the CD from the German book.

Here at school we use windows as an operating system.
Could we install PyGame from its website if all else fails?

Thanks for your help

also in the name of Steve, Tiz, Nick and Fäbe

Cornelia

Re: Ski game
Cornelia,

You are probably better off to run the Windows installer from our website:
http://www.manning.com/sande/installers/hello_world_setup.exe

This installs Python, Pygame, and everything else you need for the book.

The CD should contain the same installer, but as Carter said, we weren't involved with that.

Try the installer from the web site and let us know if that works. You should uninstall your current version of Python first.
