hi, i have to code a consumer webpart to edit listitems. how can i get the webid & listid from a standard provider webpart / the provider datacource?

Hi,
what kind of Web Part is your provider? You need to look at that Web Part to see what interface you need to support in your consumer WP.
Appendix A in the book outlines all commonly used Web Parts and their connection interfaces.

We have to use a provider Web Part with an IWebPartRow / IWebPartTable interface, for example an standard XsltListView Web Part.

You only get the data, not the actual webid/listid's, from the XLV. Looks like you need to build a Web Part on your own smilie
You can easily create a WP with the SPGridView or similar to show the data.
