The Lucene community has recently decided to merge the development of two of its sub-projects – Lucene->Java and Lucene->Solr. Both code bases now sit under the same trunk in svn and Solr actually runs straight off the latest Lucene code at all times. check out for more info: http://www.lucidimagination.com/blog/2010/03/26/lucene-and-solr-development-have-merged/

Re: Lucene and Solr Development Have Merged
Yes! This is win/win for both Solr and Lucene.

But, Lucene and Solr will still remain separate release artifacts (JARs), web sites, user lists, etc. It's only the development that's merged.
