I have read through the first chapter. My impression is that it gives a good overview of the process and the steps along the way. As well as mentioning some of the tools to be used.

Some comments on the text...

1.1.1 Defining Continuous Integration (pg 7)
Your definition of CI reads "...builds, tests, deploys, and analyzes an
application to help ensure it functions correctly, follows best practices, and
is deployable..."

Perhaps I am being fussy, but might analysis precede deployment? Assuming you are listing broad steps in order. If changed, would parallel word order later in the sentence.

1.3.2 Code Analysis tools (pg 22)
Last paragraph, first sentence: "applcations" appears misspelled.

Re: Chapter 1 impressions
Grant,

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll change the ordering you suggested in 1.1.1. As for spelling, grammar, etc, the chapters have not yet gone through copy edit. This stuff will get taken care of later in the writing process.
