For your next book, could you write some examples about these particular components?

Zend_OpenId
Zend_Session
Zend_Dojo

I'm trying to learn how to use the Programmer's Reference Guide but it doesn't like me. And I don't like it.

I think it's because I don't have a traditional Programmers background. They should have a Hobbyist's Reference Guide for those of us with no traditional Programmer's background.

Try the quickstart for 1.8 it's will get you along a lot faster.

Yeah I'm trying to blend:

* the basic knowledge from the ZFiA book,
* with the new 1.8 Akrabat tutorial,
* and the Quickstart 1.8

it finally feels like I'm switching to the 2nd gear when doing my first ZF project. Hopefully by next year I will have mastered the Zend_Session component without a sequel ZFiA book.

I'm starting to make friends with the Programmers Reference guide smilie at least it's better than the old procedural PHP reference guides.

Re: What will the next ZFiA (2) book talk about?
I haven't a clue what would be in a ZFiA 2nd Ed!

Some off-the-cuff ideas:
I think chapters 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8 would be reworked and more tutorial like and form the first part of the book.
Auth/ACL and Ajax would move to the 2nd part.
I would probably put testing separately in its own chapter.
I'm not particularly a fan of Dojo, so maybe ZendX_JQuery instead?

Who knows?! If/when the time comes, I'll certainly be asking for ideas here!

Regards,

Rob...

Cool then I strategize my learning for JQuery it seems to be the one Ajax that most veterans love.

How many years did it take for you to finish and release your first ZFiA book?

I have a sneaking suspicion that learning Zend_Sessions and Zend_OpenID is going to be a cakewalk compared to learning Zend_Forms and Decorators smilie
