First off, I want to say thanks for this book. I'm twenty years old, but learning with this book has been a lot of fun so far.

Every once in a while when starting to run a module, the IDLE locks up and gives me the error,

"IDLE's subprocess didn't make connection. Either IDLE can't start a subprocess or personal firewall software is blocking the connection."

This only happens about once every 4 times I try to start a module.
Is there a solution to this?

Thanks.

Re: Subprocess Startup Error
I'm glad you're enjoying the book.

Someone posted a similar question on the Amazon page for the book. I'll copy here what I posted there in reply.

Warren Sande

IDLE uses something called an internal socket connection to connect two processes. Some security software, including the high-security setting of Windows Firewall, sees this as trying to connect to the internet, and blocks it. Rest assured, IDLE is not trying to connect to the internet.

You can find out more here, including a couple of different solutions: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2006-August/400015.html
