Has anyone else had problems integrating the PNGImage code into GWT 1.6?

I've been going through the in Action book progressively and trying to update all the example code to GWT 1.6, but this PNGImage class keeps complaining about this line:

setElement(impl.createElement(url, width, height));

in which it takes the created element and tries to set it because of this:

protected void setElement(com.google.gwt.user.client.Element elem) {
assert (element == null) : SETELEMENT_TWICE_ERROR;
this.element = elem;
}

Anyone else run up against this?
Much Obliged,
Erik

Re: PNGImage Code and GWT 1.6
This is the best I could find. Doesn't seem like it would solve the problem, and doesn't seem to have gotten much traction anyways...
