I am curious how you define a valid java class, as I am not certain if a class written for Android will work with AspectJ.

I thought about this reading the latest copy of the book that I just received.

I haven't looked at Android very closely. However, since it uses Java .class files converted into Dalvik's byte code, code compiled by AspectJ should run on the the Dalvik VM. Also looking at the classes it includes (http://code.google.com/android/reference/classes.html), I believe that it contains all the classes that AspectJ needs.
