I am using the MAMP package on my mac, and i can't seem to get the path variables in the config file correct for the QuickGallery application.

Its similar to XAMPP, and my root directory is "/Applications/MAMP/htdocs"

anyone using a mac figured out the proper $basedir, $slides_dir, and $img_pre_path and where to create new directories?

thanks very much,
louis

Re: I need help with config for QuickGallery
Hi,

I've heard of XAMPP and WAMP, but never WAMP before - but, as you say, these things are all just Apache and PHP underneath.

Let's say you've installed the QG code under /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/album

$basedir and $slides_dir should just be based on that, i.e.

$basedir=/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/album/images
$slides_dir=/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/album/slides

If MAMP's web server is running on port 8888 (the default according to their docs),then you'd access QG from

http://localhost:8888/album/

and the images would all be under http://localhost:8888/album/images/

so $img_pre_path should be '/album/images', I think.

(Similar to the Windows config on p.487 of the book, because MAMP isn't running under a Unix user's account in the way that the Mac and Ubuntu examples are.)

Give that a go, and if it doesn't work, tell me what errors it reports.
