Hi
I am new to i-Text and dont know any of its uses till now.
Is it posible to do it with a simple program using i-Text apis?

As the title of the book indicates, you can use iText to generate and manipulate PDF files. In chapter 18, you'll find an example that explains why you'll have a hard time finding any tool to retrieve data from a PDF. So no: I wouldn't suggest iText to convert data rendered on a PDF page to an XLS file. I would highly recommend you to change the design of your app so that the info is retrieved from the source from which the PDF was created, rather than from the 'end product'. You should see PDF as a One Way Process. You put data in a PDF to visualize the data; you don't retrieve the data afterwards. (Unless we're talking about forms, or about tagged PDF, or very specific cases which I'm 99% sure don't apply to the PDFs you're talking about.)

You are right but i have no control over source.
This activity is part of the work flow fallowed for some BPO

Will try if there is any way i can get hold of source from which the PDF has been created.
