I think I've seen this in a few places in this book so far where it seems strange to have the plural form when the entity name is singular. I don't know if it is supposed to be this way since I think I've seen it a few times in this book (and only in this book,) or if it is a mistake.

I believe it's a difference in UK/US grammar.
http://alt-usage-english.org/groupnames.html has a bit more about it.

Hopefully the proof reader will catch all these, but I'll try to adapt my own mental model. (It's really hard - spelling is a lot easier.)
