I downloaded and used the JavaLanguageScanner tool after reading the book. I wrote a simple code munger using it. However, I was wondering if the tool supports Java packages? If not, does anyone know of a similar tool that does, or should I extend it on my own?

Thanks,
Jeff

You can extend it, if you like, and I would be happy to put your extensions up on the site.

If you aren't comfortable with that you may want to look at the Doclet framework within JavaDoc. Lots of engineers using that for code generation purposes. It has absolutely everything you need to know about the classes that it scans.
