Thank you for purchasing this book. We appreciate your support and hope that you find it provides a different experience to other books that you may have purchased in the past.

In the Business Intelligence section for volume 1, I wrote about why BI was so important for businesses and discussed how far the Microsoft BI platform has come since it first appeared. This time, for volume 2, I want to discuss why it’s important for you to be involved in BI for your career development.

Many SQL Server professionals have worked predominantly with the database engine and are now beginning to take tentative steps toward broadening their skill sets to include BI. There are several good reasons for doing this, but I feel that the most important reason is to increase your value to your organization and your own marketability.
